As Desperate Trump Stumps on Long Island, Republican Congressional Frontrunner Jack Martins Remains Silent

As Donald Trump turns to the New York primary with a campaign rally tonight on Long Island, Nassau Republican congressional candidate (and frontrunner) Jack Martins remains silent on whether he would support Trump and his unpopular, reckless and dangerous views as the eventual nominee.

With Trump stumping in Martins’s backyard, now would be an opportune time for Martins to stand up and say whether or not he would support Trump and his reckless rhetoric that puts down women and dangerous views that make our country less safe.

As Martins keeps silent, Trump has already put other New York Republicans between a rock and a hard place as they scramble to create distance from his reckless (and unpopular) rhetoric and dangerous views.

  • Trump’s biggest cheerleader in New York, Carl Paladino, has been bullying resistant New York House Republicans into endorsing Donald Trump.
  • Republican Long Island Congressman Peter King told Newsday last month that he is “worried about the implications for the Republican Party if Trump wins the GOP nomination and becomes its leader.”
  • And when Nassau Republican Party Chair Joe Mondello endorsed Trump last month, he said “that he doesn’t believe Trump’s rhetoric is inflaming racial animosity or encouraging attacks against protesters at campaign rallies, as critics contend,” according to Newsday.

“As Donald Trump kicks off his New York tour with a rally on Long Island, where does Long Island Republican congressional candidate and frontrunner Jack Martins stand on supporting Donald Trump and his reckless rhetoric that puts down women and dangerous views that make our country less safe?” asked Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “With Donald Trump stumping in his backyard today, now is an opportune time for Martins to stand up and say whether he would support Trump as his party’s standard bearer.”
