“Do-Nothing” David Valadao Votes Against Cutting His Constituents’ Taxes

New report shows the average taxpayer in CA-21 can expect to save $1,754 next year — no thanks to Rep. Valadao

Help is on the way for California’s 21st District with a major tax cut passed by Democrats, no thanks to Do-Nothing David Valadao. Once again Rep. Valadao showed that he is nothing more than a partisan puppet, delivering for party bosses instead of cutting taxes for his constituents.

new report from the conservative-leaning organization Tax Foundation found that taxpayers in Valadao’s district will benefit the most in the entire state from President Biden and Congressional Democrats’ tax plan. The Fresno Bee reports that “the analysis found that the average taxpayer in his district would save $1,754, or 3.8% of their adjusted gross income, next year.” Valadao, however, is “not convinced” that saving his constituents’ hard earned money is a good idea, calling the tax plan “reckless.”

Now, California newspapers are calling out the congressman and making sure his constituents know that when Valadao had the chance to put more money in their pockets, he voted no.

The Fresno Bee: San Joaquin Valley taxpayers have most to gain in President Biden’s tax plan, report shows
August 23, 2021 | By David Lightman

  • The California congressional district that would benefit most next year from President Joe Biden’s tax plan is represented by a Republican, David Valadao of Hanford.

  • The Tax Foundation, regarded as somewhat conservative, analyzed the impact of all of Biden’s tax proposals on California’s districts.

  • Valadao is no fan of the Biden package, yet the analysis found that the average taxpayer in his district would save $1,754, or 3.8% of their adjusted gross income, next year.

  • Valadao was not convinced the plan would be much help to people in his district.

  • Valadao’s district — covering Kings County and parts of Fresno, Kern and Tulare counties — is estimated to be by far the biggest beneficiary of the Biden tax plans.

  • The Tax Foundation used 14 Biden proposals in its analysis. Among the biggest potential breaks is expanding the Child Tax Credit through 2025. The credit was increased this year, and qualifying families could receive up to $250 to $300, depending on a child’s age, each month this year starting in July. In Valadao’s district, several credits would be available because the average adjusted gross income is estimated to be $45,734.

The Porterville Recorder: Biden tax plan would largely benefit the area
August 24, 2021 | By Charles Whisnand

  • California has 53 Congressional districts with only 11 represented by Republicans. Eight of those districts represented by Republicans, including McCarthy’s district, would see a net tax cut.

  • The district that would receive the largest benefit in the state from Biden’s plan would [be] Republican David Valadao’s district, which includes a portion of southwestern Tulare County.

  • Biden has been adamant about not raising taxes on anyone who earns less than $400,000 year. He has also proposed to restore the tax rate back to what it was before the tax cut that was passed in 2017, raising the tax rate for the wealthiest Americans from 37 to 39.6 percent.

  • Biden also wants to to continue the child tax credit at least through the end of this year and would like to extend that child tax credit to 2025. It’s been estimated that child tax credit could reduce child poverty in half. Biden has also proposed to raise the corporate tax rate which was cut to 21 percent in 2017 to 28 percent.

  • The Tax Foundation reported those in Valadao’s district would save on average $1,754 or 3.8 percent of their annual income. Valadao, though, is against Biden’s plan.
