Do Republicans Agree with Trump’s Lie That The Real Insurrection Was Election Day?

McCarthy and House Republicans must make clear whether 1/6 was the real insurrection

Extremist Ringleader Kevin McCarthy has pushed his caucus into the depths of extremism by coddling Donald Trump and continuing to promote his dangerous “Big Lie”.

And now today, the former President released a disturbing statement saying, “The insurrection took place on November 3, Election Day. January 6 was the Protest!”

The GOP has spent months trying to gaslight the American people about the insurrection, a deadly Capitol attack carried out by a mob of Trump supporters inspired by Republicans’ election lies.

Instead of holding Trump accountable, Extremist Ringleader Kevin McCarthy, NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer, and their members have fought for months to hide the truth from the American people and protect their Insurrectionist-in-Chief over our democracy.

Now, every Republican in Congress must answer whether they agree with Trump’s disturbing lie that voters participating in democracy, not the fatal attack he inspired, was the real insurrection.

“If McCarthy, Emmer, and the rest of their extremist caucus are going to continue cowering to Trump, then they can’t keep hiding from his reckless and dangerous rhetoric,” said DCCC Spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre. “Americans died as a result of their lies, and to now call American voters participating in free and fair elections an ‘insurrectionist’ is beyond disturbing. Every Republican in Congress owes it to their constituents to say whether or not they agree.”
