Last night, Politico reported on an initial leaked Supreme Court opinion that stated, “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled” by the majority.
This came on the heels of a Washington Post report that Republicans plan on pushing a 6-week national ban on abortion and other states criminalizing abortions.
In CA-49, extreme GOP candidate Christopher Rodriguez has compared the leaking of the drafted decision to dismantle reproductive rights as equivalent to the violent January 6th insurrection, while expressing support for the court’s drafted majority decision to overturn Roe and Casey. He even said he would draft legislation to ban all abortions and certain types of birth control such as IUDs. Meanwhile, his primary opponent Brian Maryott has been silent on the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Our fundamental rights are on the line and voters deserve to know: Does Brian Maryott agree with his primary opponent Christopher Rodriguez that the Supreme Court should overturn Roe v. Wade and ban abortion nationwide?
Reminder: Recent national polls find around 70% of Americans oppose overturning Roe.
