Roy’s fellow Oversight Committee Republicans warn pharmaceutical industry that investigation into rising drug prices could hurt their stock prices
House Oversight Committee Republicans have taken advocacy for their special interest backers to a whole new level according to a new report from Buzzfeed. Instead of advocating for families struggling to afford the increasing costs of prescription drugs, Congressmen Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows this week cautioned pharmaceutical companies against complying with a House investigation into rising drug prices, warning that the investigation could hurt their stock prices. The question now is, does Congressman Chip Roy agree?
This wouldn’t be the first time Congressman Roy has put his loyalty to big pharma ahead of his constituents. Roy has been a vocal supporter of the GOP Tax Scam, which raised taxes on middle-class Texans while allowing drug companies to pocket billions of dollars in savings. Meanwhile, those same companies are continuing to raise drug prices – leaving many Texans struggling to afford their prescriptions.
“Rising drug prices is one of the biggest challenges facing middle class families,” said DCCC Spokesperson Brooke Goren. “It’s simple – does Congressman Roy stand with Texans or with his ultra-wealthy special interest backers?”
