Yesterday, GOP Senate Whip John Thune claimed Senate Republicans want to leverage the necessary US debt limit increase to cut Social Security. Before the midterm elections, the GOP – including Kevin McCarthy – was reportedly planning on forcing Social Security cuts using the exact same plan.
Americans deserve to know if House GOP leaders agree with Sen. Thune and stand by their plan to play politics with the full faith and credit of the United States and Americans’ livelihoods to leverage their desire to gut the retirement benefits seniors have earned.
The contrast remains clear: Democrats are fighting to move our economy forward while protecting Social Security and Medicare, and Republicans are plotting to tank the US economy in order to rip away Americans’ earned benefits.
