Does Jim Desmond Support Ending Birthright Citizenship?

As Donald Trump pushes a deeply unpopular effort to roll back the constitutional guarantee to birthright citizenship at the Supreme Court today, Jim Desmond owes California voters answers.

Jim Desmond has been silent on this. In a district where immigrant families and Latino voters play a decisive role, Desmond’s silence speaks volumes.

Polling shows the American people overwhelmingly reject efforts to end birthright citizenship and two-thirds support maintaining it regardless of parents’ status.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser
“Does Jim Desmond agree with Donald Trump’s plan to end birthright citizenship – yes or no? He owes the people of CA-48 an answer. Instead of standing up for the Constitution and the families he represents, Desmond is hiding behind silence while Trump pushes an extreme, dangerous agenda.”

REMINDERTrump’s executive order would strip citizenship from children born in the United States unless a parent is a citizen or permanent resident, a direct attack on the 14th Amendment and a policy that lower courts have already blocked.
