One week after the Supreme Court allowed Texas’ drastic six-week abortion ban to take effect, Congressman Don Bacon is defending the draconian bill that all but eliminates access to safe, legal abortion in the state and puts a bounty on anyone who tries to help women seek care.
It’s no surprise Don Bacon backs a vigilante bounty system to punish women and their doctors – Bacon wants to make abortion illegal even in cases of rape and incest and voted to defund Planned Parenthood, which would deny Nebraska women access to basic health care like cancer screenings and birth control.
Bacon also voted against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act, which would expand protections for survivors of domestic abuse and stalking.
“Don Bacon is a threat to women’s health care in Nebraska and across the country,” said DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw. “He has chosen to stand with extremist Republicans as they ban abortion for millions of women and put a bounty on their doctors and even family members who try to help.”
