Don Bacon Says One Thing, Does Another on Allegiance to Trump

Don Bacon can’t seem to stop saying one thing and doing another.

Bacon told News Channel Nebraska yesterday that he’d “like to see a new candidate” for president in 2024, but that hasn’t stopped him from voting with Donald Trump 90 percent of the time and falling in line with GOP ringleaders on issues from health care to Social Security.

Since it seems like Bacon could use a refresher, let’s take a look back at just some of the times Bacon has stood lockstep with the twice-impeached former president. He:

• Voted “hell yes” to gut protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions and backed Trump’s lawsuit to fully repeal the Affordable Care Act;

• Stood silently by as Trump threatened to cut Social Security and voted with GOP leaders to turn Medicare into a voucher program;

• Refused to hold Trump accountable for his role in inciting the deadly January 6 insurrection;

• Said it was an “easy choice” to endorse Trump’s re-election bid.
