Don Bacon’s Broken Promise on Pre-Existing Conditions

I am committed to making sure those with pre-existing conditions will retain coverage.”
– Rep. Don Bacon

That was then. Now, Don Bacon is all in on the Republicans’ repeal and ripoff health care bill that would undermine protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

In addition to putting protections for pre-existing conditions at risk and allowing insurance companies to charge women more for the same health care, it would result in 24 million Americans losing their health insurance, impose an unfair age tax on older Americans, and raise premiums. According to Bacon, the latest version of the reckless Republican repeal bill is “on the right track.”

“This was a disastrous bill when it took health care away from 24 million Americans and now that it rips away protections for people with pre-existing conditions, it’s far worse,” said DCCC spokesman Cole Leiter. “Don Bacon promised his constituents that everyone should have access to affordable health insurance. That includes people with asthma, diabetes and other diseases. Not only is Congressman Bacon deceiving himself if he thinks the Republican repeal bill does this, but he’s deceiving his constituents as well. This broken promise is morally bankrupt, and Bacon’s bald-faced cover up of the truth makes it even worse. He will be held accountable by the voters in his district.”
