Public polling shows that House Republicans’ Big, Ugly Law is the most unpopular piece of legislation in modern American history. It’s so unpopular even Donald Trump is now changing course on their tax scam—saying it’s time for a rebrand:
“I’m not going to use the term ‘great, big, beautiful’—that was good for getting it approved, but it’s not good for explaining to people what it’s all about,” Trump admitted during a Cabinet meeting this week.
The admission comes as House Republicans continue to struggle to defend their so-called legislative achievement.
According to a recent tally by The New York Times, just one out of 35 DCCC-targeted Republicans has held a town hall to promote the bill. Rep. Juan Ciscomani, for instance, refused to even comment for an interview with a national publication about his vote, while Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, unable to give an answer on why she voted for the largest cut to Medicaid in American history, awkwardly offered a constituent an egg (!?).
DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Even Donald Trump has realized that Republicans’ Big, Ugly Law is a political disaster that’s lost the support of the American public. That’s why House Republicans are running scared, refusing to hold town hall meetings and forced to defend their vote for the largest cut to Medicaid and food assistance in history to give massive tax breaks to their billionaire backers.” |
