Donald Trump bragged about his role in stripping away women’s reproductive freedoms saying, “For 54 years they were trying to get Roe v. Wade terminated, and I did it. And I’m proud to have done it… We did something that was a miracle.”
It’s clear that David Schweikert agrees, given he:
-
Praised the overturning of Roe v. Wade, saying he was “pleased” to see the decision.
-
Co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act – a bill that would ban abortion nationwide with no exceptions.
-
Does not support abortion in cases of rape or incest.
-
Told the Wall Street Journal that he would continue to vote antiabortion in Congress.
-
Voted to restrict access to abortion medication nationwide.
REMINDER: According to recent polling, support for abortion access remains at record levels as GOP politicians like David Schweikert continue to target women and doctors for seeking or providing essential health care.
Next week, the House is slated to vote for legislation supporting “deceptive” crisis pregnancy centers and mandating that colleges and universities limit information about abortion when discussing options with pregnant students.
DCCC Spokesperson Lauryn Fanguen:
“David Schweikert has made it crystal clear that he wants to strip constitutional freedoms away from Arizona women. Republicans have only continued their crusade for a national abortion ban, and Schweikert is leading the charge towards these dangerous and unpopular attacks.”
