Donald Trump’ Calls on Poliquin to ‘Say My Name’ in new DCCC web video
The DCCC is releasing a new web video calling attention to “Backroom Bruce” Poliquin’s true colors on Donald Trump.
The video features “Donald Trump” standing outside of popular Washington fundraiser locations (including the House Republicans’ campaign headquarters) calling on Backroom Bruce to ‘Say My Name!’ – a reference to Poliquin’s embrace of Trump behind closed doors, but refusal to say Trump’s name publicly.
Despite Poliquin’s private support for Trump, he has also dodged reporters’ questions on several occasions. Here are some of the highlights:
- Last Friday, when asked whether he will support Trump, Roll Call reported that Poliquin “stared straight ahead and occasionally looked at his phone, walking briskly from the House floor to another press conference.”
- In March, when a POLITICO reporter asked Poliquin whether he supported Trump, an “uncomfortable silence ensued” as Poliquin ran for the elevator.
“Backroom Bruce Poliquin is trying to have it both ways by embracing Donald Trump behind closed doors, but publicly refusing to even say his name,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “How can Backroom Bruce be trusted to stand up for Maine when he can’t even come clean with Maine voters?”
