Donald Trump to Working Women: We’re getting Your Husbands Back To Work
Trump adds to House Republicans’ Woman Problem with blatant misogyny
This week, at a rally in Michigan, Donald Trump told hundreds of working women “We’re getting your husbands back to work.”.
But here’s the problem for Washington Republicans and President Trump: their failure to adequately respond to COVID-19 has cost tens of thousands of women their jobs. And that’s not the only harm Washington Republicans have done to women in this country:
- Earlier this year, 182 House Republicans voted against equal rights for women.
- House Republican Ted Yoho used unthinkable words to describe Representative Ocasio-Cortez on the steps of the Capitol.
- Failing to emotionally recover from his crushing defeat to Congresswoman Elaine Luria, former CongressmanScott Taylor repeatedly insulted Congresswoman Luria who, in addition to handing him a humbling defeat in 2018, holds a higher rank in the U.S. Navy.
- NRCC Young Gun David Richter mused about his Republican primary opponent Kate Gibbs suffocating in a box,
- Republican leaders continued to support congressional candidate Dan Rodimer following domestic violence allegations, and the NRCC dismissed those allegations as a “private moment.”
- House Republicans constant attacks against women’s access to healthcare – going as far as to try to sneak their restrictions into the COVID-19 relief bill.
Washington Republicans pushed women away from their party by embracing sexism, sexist candidates, and policies that undermine women‘s health care. They’re sending a clear message: that women are not welcome in the Republican party.
DCCC spokesperson Madia Coleman said “It is no wonder that Washington Republicans stumbled into 2020 with the lowest number of GOP women in the house since 1993.”.
