DON’T BE FOOLED: Tenney Has Not Scheduled a Single Town Hall

Ignore the smoke and mirrors.

Despite Congresswoman Claudia Tenney’s so-called “reversal” on holding an in-person town hall with her constituents, she has yet to set a date or time for a town hall.

“Congresswoman Tenney shouldn’t pat herself on the back for potentially agreeing to do her job—especially after spending the past month ducking and dodging her constituents,” said DCCC Spokesman Evan Lukaske. “Once Rep. Tenney sets a specific date and time for this town hall, we look forward to her explanation for why she wants to strip health care from thousands of Central New York families without a replacement.”

In recent days, Teneny has come under withering criticism from editorial boards and constituents alike for her refusal to hold town halls.

A February 22 Utica Observer Dispatch editorial slammed her duck and cover strategy, writing “most politicians just grow a thick skin and suck it up. Apparently, not Rep. Claudia Tenney. She chooses to just avoid the opposition…Tenney’s decision to insulate herself cheats the people she was elected to serve.”

Her constituents have taken her to task, as well. Unable to get Tenney to explain her plans to strip their health care without a replacement, they’ve hosted their own community healthcare town hall, have planned a “Where’s Tenney?” town hall for this Saturday, and have invited the Congresswoman to both.

Sadly, rather than attend, Tenney instead accused her concerned constituents of being “paid protesters,” a claim that has been thoroughly discredited—by Tenney’s own Republican colleagues.
