Love’s shocking burn rate puts spotlight on her vulnerability
Congresswoman Mia Love’s first year in Congress has been marred by false statements and shifting stories about her misuse of taxpayer dollars, promises from her campaign to run a negative reelection, and now, fast and loose campaign spending. This past quarter – Doug Owens’ first quarter – Mia Love only managed to add just under $139,000 to her cash-on-hand while Owens added a full $284,700 to his cash-on-hand. Owens DOUBLED Love’s cash-on-hand added this quarter.
“Congresswoman Love has certainly demonstrated an ability to spend too much money – both that of the taxpayers and her campaign,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law.
Keep in mind that Owens only lost to Love by about 5 points last cycle, even though he was outspent by nearly 6:1. Owens raised over $322,000 in the third quarter, which was the feature of a front page story in the Salt Lake Tribune this morning:
