Dr. Jasmeet Bains Added to DCCC’s Coveted ‘Red to Blue’ Program

Bains will flip CA-22 blue and help take back the House majority

Today, the DCCC announced that Dr. Jasmeet Bains has been added to the committee’s highly competitive ‘Red to Blue’ program, signaling that the DCCC is invested in providing Dr. Bains, a top-tier candidate, with the support needed to continue building a winning campaign as she runs for California’s 22nd Congressional District.

“Dr. Jasmeet Bains has fought on the frontlines of health crises and built a track record of delivering for the Central Valley. Meanwhile, David Valadao has sided with Washington politicians to rip health care away from his constituents and proven he won’t stand up for working families. It’s time to call in a doctor who will. Dr. Bains will be a Valley-first fighter to lower costs, expand access to health care, and strengthen public safety,” said DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene.

Dr. Jasmeet Bains is a family doctor who has spent her career showing up when her community needs her most. The daughter of first-generation immigrants, she has served Central Valley families in her hometown clinic, on the frontlines of California’s wildfires, and in surge hospitals. In the State Assembly, Dr. Bains took on the fentanyl crisis, cut taxes for working families, and strengthened public safety, all while fighting to expand affordable health care and bring a UC medical school to Kern County.

Her record of delivering results has earned her strong trust and cross-party support in the heart of the district — outperforming the top of the ticket by over seven points in 2024. Her strength is a stark contrast with David Valadao, who turned his back on the Central Valley, voting to gut health care for his own constituents in an increasingly-competitive Trump +2 district. While Valadao plays politics, Dr. Bains puts the Valley first and is ready to fight for her community in Congress.

In 2024, Dr. Bains overperformed the top of the ticket by 7.4% and House Democrats by 8.6% in her Assembly race. Following the overwhelming passage of Proposition 50, CA-22 shifted from a Trump +6 district to an increasingly competitive Trump +2, and is now rated a toss-up by national race raters.

Red to Blue is a highly competitive and battle-tested DCCC program that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue building winning campaigns. Additionally, through Red to Blue the DCCC provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings, fundraising support, and more.
