The NRCC is attempting a rebrand today on behalf of House Republicans, under the banner of “Driving to Strengthen America”. Puzzlingly, the video and mission statement boast a driving and highway theme. This comes just days after the Republican-led Congress again kicked the can down the road on a long-term highway funding bill and left early for their five week August recess, even as the Senate passed a 6-year, bipartisan bill. Interesting choice, NRCC.
“It’s pretty ironic that the Republican rebrand has a highway and driving theme, when millions of Americans are driving over structurally deficient bridges and roads in disrepair because House Republicans couldn’t get their act together to pass a long-term highway funding bill. The Republican-led Congress had an opportunity to ‘strengthen America’, but instead took a bad shortcut to a five week recess,” said Meredith Kelly of the DCCC.
