Eight Months Later, Alaskans Are Paying the Price for the Nick Begich-Backed War in Iran

Begich voted six times to back the war

Yesterday marked eight months since Donald Trump, backed by Nick Begich, pulled Alaskans into a reckless war of choice in Iran with no end in sight. As Alaskan families pay nearly $5 a gallon to fill up the tank – and up to $10 in rural parts of the state – and watch prices soar on groceries and everyday goods, Begich continues to throw his constituents under the bus.

Americans’ confidence in the economy is “in a tailspin,” with consumer confidence at a lower point than during the Great Recession.

The Begich-backed war in Iran has cost Alaskans an average of $600 per household.

REMINDER: Trump said the war in Iran would be over in a matter of weeks, but after eight months, $47 billion in military spending, and more than $100 billion in excess consumer spending on fuel alone, the war is no closer to ending than when it started.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“Nick Begich broke his promise to Alaskans to lower costs, rubber-stamping Trump’s reckless war of choice in Iran and raising prices everywhere from the gas station to the grocery store. Alaskans are sick of this endless war, and Begich’s broken promises are going to cost him his job.”
