Eight Months Later, Paul LePage Stays Silent While Mainers Pay the Price for the War in Iran

Today marks eight months since Donald Trump pulled Mainers into a reckless war of choice in Iran with no end in sight — and Paul LePage hasn’t said a word.

As families pay $4.29/gal to fill up the tank and watch prices soar on groceries and everyday goods, all LePage could muster when asked about Republicans’ handling of the war was “I don’t know…I can’t really answer that.”

Americans’ confidence in the economy is “in a tailspin,” with consumer confidence at a lower point than during the Great Recession.

The war in Iran has cost Mainers over $650 more on average per household.

REMINDER: Trump said the war in Iran would be over in a matter of weeks, but after eight months, $47 billion in military spending, and more than $100 billion in excess consumer spending on fuel alone, the war is no closer to ending than when it started.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Paul LePage broke his promise to Mainers to lower costs, standing idly by while Trump’s reckless war of choice in Iran raises prices everywhere from the gas station to the grocery store. Mainers are sick of this endless war, and LePage’s broken promises are going to cost him any shot of making it to Congress.”
