El Diario NY: Although there are thousands of Latino voters in Queens, Republican Mazi Pilip has not agreed to participate in a debate on Telemundo with Democrat Tom Suozzi.
-
So far, Republican Pilip has accepted only one debate with Democrat Tom Suozzi, for Long Island News 12 channel, where 12% of residents speak Spanish.
-
On December 26, Suozzi said he accepted five of the invitations to 12 debates, including one with Telemundo, but his Republican opponent, who is currently a legislator in Nassau, has agreed to only one debate on 8 February.
-
This newspaper asked the Pilip office about its lack of confirmation to engage in a debate on a television station that serves primarily the Latino population. The Republican’s campaign confirmed to the Patch News that Pilip has only accepted one debate.
DCCC Spokesperson, José Muñoz:
“Mazi Pilip continues to hide from voters. First Pilip refuses to answer reporter questions and now she’s declining to participate in a debate with Telemundo and WNBC – the only station that would reach Spanish-speaking voters in Queens. Families across Queens and Nassau County deserve better.”
