Elaine Luria Supports 5G Jobs at Norfolk, Scott Taylor Entertains Russian 5G Conspiracy Theories

Responding To Conspiracy Theory, Scott Taylor says People are “Rightfully” “Very Concerned” about 5G

This week the Department of Defense announced that Naval Station Norfolk will be a key testing site for the next generation of connectivity, 5G. This effort, supported by Rep. Elaine Luria, will support jobs at the base and ensure that the United States military continues its lead in communications and logistics.

Not surprisingly, Russia opposes America’s lead in the 5G space. As one expert noted, “Russia doesn’t have a good 5G play so it tries to undermine and discredit ours” by spreading false information about 5G.  What is surprising, however, is that former Congressman Scott Taylor seems to be entertaining the Russian conspiracy theory.

While Luria praised the effort to bring 5G jobs to Norfolk, Scott Taylor recently argued that people were “rightfully” very concerned about “the dangers” of 5G. Taylor’s theories contradict sentiments from DOD expert, Dr. Michael D. Griffin, Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering who said, “We cannot allow adversaries to have network superiority at the same time that we intend to use these networks to our advantage,”

“While Representative Elaine Luria is fighting to bring jobs and connectivity to Coastal Virginia, Scott Taylor is working against our national security interests and experts by entertaining online conspiracy theories,” said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett. “Scott Taylor should listen to leading experts at the Department of Defense and get behind this DOD effort.”
