Election Fraud in North Carolina, Paid For By Washington Republicans

Kevin McCarthy, Tom Emmer, Steve Scalise Donated $20,000 to Campaign at Center of  “Coordinated, Unlawful Absentee Ballot Scheme”

As the North Carolina State Board of Elections hearing into election fraud in North Carolina’s 9th District continues, it has become increasingly clear that fraud occurred. So clear that Republican Mark Harris’s own son testified that he warned his father that he was hiring a “shady character” who could be breaking the law. But while a mountain of evidence accrues, Washington Republican leaders have remained conspicuously silent—this despite their own campaign donations to Harris’ shady campaign.

NRCC Chair Tom Emmer contributed $1,000, Minority Whip Steve Scalise gave $7,000, and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy contributed $12,000 to Republican candidate Mark Harris from their campaigns and leadership PACs. Since then, this trio of Washington Republican leaders has utterly failed to lead by refusing to speak out against the “coordinated, unlawful and substantially resourced absentee ballot scheme” that their donations helped finance.

“GOP Leaders Emmer, Scalise, and McCarthy helped finance a campaign that committed election fraud, and they can’t hide from that record,” said DCCC spokesperson Cole Leiter. “By remaining silent, these Washington Republicans are making their priorities crystal clear: partisan Washington values ahead of the integrity of American elections.”
