Today, the Oregonian editorial board announced its endorsements for the three highly-competitive congressional races this cycle – and all three Democrats emerged with the honor.
In Oregon’s fourth district, the editorial board endorsed Val Hoyle, saying she is “the candidate who can most effectively serve the vast southwestern Oregon district of coastal, rural and urban counties.” They highlighted Hoyle’s “focus on rebuilding the middle class with opportunities for good-paying jobs” and her “willingness to go to bat for workers.”
In Oregon’s fifth district, the editorial board endorsed Jamie McLeod-Skinner, saying her “dominant command of the issues affecting the varied district will best serve its voters.” They also pointed out McLeod-Skinner’s “ability to unite people around common objectives” and her nonpartisan priorities, such as “rebuilding the economy, increasing the availability of housing and supporting working families.”
In Oregon’s sixth district, the editorial board endorsed Andrea Salinas, saying her “strong voice [will] help establish the [new] 6th Congressional District” in Washington D.C. They also praised Salinas for her well-established “effectiveness in passing legislation” and unique “skill in navigating controversial policy.”

“Val Hoyle, Jamie McLeod-Skinner, and Andrea Salinas are three truly phenomenal candidates who will each make history in just 27 days. Their Republican opponents offer nothing more than coached talking points designed to mask their extremism – clearly, they could use a little more practice.”
