New report reveals double-digit spike in American’s energy bills – driven by Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill
A new report reveals how incredibly damaging House Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill has been to American families, with the analysis showing that energy bills have risen by 13% since the beginning of the year, with households in states like Florida and Wisconsin seeing their annual energy bill costs go up by as much as $388 this year already.
The report specifically called out how Republican’s reckless policies are driving up monthly energy prices, citing:
“Projects that were canceled or delayed since Trump’s election have led to a loss of 24,958.5 megawatts of planned energy generation, which could have powered more than 13.17 million homes.”
Not only are prices already rising under Republicans, but the report concluded that things will get worse for American families:
“Prices are expected to spike even further, especially as rising energy demands are driven by data centers and extreme heat.”
REMINDER: Vulnerable House Republicans fell in line and voted to raise energy bills on hardworking Americans earlier this year. Under the Big, Ugly Law, households nationwide would pay $170 billion more in increased energy bills over the next decade. On average, consumers would see their energy bills increase by more than $260 per year in 2035, with some states seeing household energy bills increase even more, such as a spike of $630 in annual costs in Kentucky.
DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton: “Working families are struggling under the weight of rising prices under Republican rule. As millions of everyday Americans continue to see their utility bills go up and up, the DCCC will make sure everyone knows who’s to blame when they vote in 2026.”
