Today, the DCCC announced that Eric Sorensen has been added to its competitive “Red to Blue” program, signaling that national Democrats are invested in providing Sorensen, a top-tier candidate, with the resources to keep Illinois’ 17th Congressional District blue.
Sorensen earned a spot on the DCCC’s coveted Red to Blue program by surpassing aggressive goals for grassroots engagement, local support, campaign organization, and fundraising.
“Eric Sorensen has spent his career keeping people informed – as a scientist, meteorologist, and climate change expert. Now he’s stepping up to run for Congress to put facts and honesty ahead of political gamesmanship as he works to bring down rising costs and create more economic opportunity in Illinois,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Eric is running an impressive grassroots campaign that will carry on Congresswoman Cheri Bustos’ strong legacy of working with anyone to deliver results in Congress. The DCCC is proud to partner with him to ensure this seat stays blue.”
Red to Blue is a highly competitive battle-tested DCCC program that arms top-tier candidates with organizational and fundraising support to help them continue to develop strong campaigns. Through Red to Blue, the DCCC also provides strategic guidance, staff resources, candidate trainings and more.
