Erik Paulsen Loves Special Interests More Than the Great Outdoors

Paulsen is the 8th Highest Recipient of Special Interest PAC $ in Congress

Rep. Erik Paulsen, one of the most vulnerable incumbents in the country, is clearly feeling nervous given he’s already up on the airwaves touting his new-found interest in protecting Minnesota’s great outdoors. What Paulsen’s ad fails to mention is that he’s taken more than $200,000 from the oil and gas industry while voting their way in Congress. And while Paulsen likes to take credit for standing up for the great outdoors, he’s got a long track record of doing the opposite. He’s voted to expand off-shore drilling and voted against efforts to protect water sources from toxic contamination, including the Great Lakes.

“Erik Paulsen is clearly nervous and doing damage control given his record of taking hundreds of thousands of dollars from big oil companies and voting their way in Congress,” said DCCC Spokesperson Rachel Irwin. “Erik Paulsen can’t stand up to anyone when he’s swimming in special interest money. Minnesotans deserve better than a bought-and-paid for politician who does the bidding of big oil companies at their expense.”
