Why is Erik Paulsen Lying About Fundraising in DC?

Erik Paulsen is sitting on a fat stack of campaign cash from DC lobbyists like the NRA. So why is he telling his constituents that raising money “is not what I do or have to do or spend my time doing”?
At a recent tele-town hall, Paulsen was asked how much he fundraises while in DC. Paulsen then gave this dubious assessment:

“You know I probably do that three days every three months if you allocate it out right… When I’m in DC it is basically just focus on your work.”
Come again? Paulsen scheduled three fundraisers this week alone:

And Paulsen packed two fundraisers into one day the week of May 10th:

Having already come under fire for taking more than $75,000 in “questionable” free foreign travel paid for by special interest groups that he turned into family vacations, Paulsen is no doubt trying to hide the numerous perks he’s grown accustomed to as a Member of Congress.

“Pro-tip: if you’re packing your schedule full of high-dollar fundraisers in Washington, don’t lie to voters when they ask you about it,” said Sacha Haworth of the DCCC. “Now that he’s facing a competitive challenger and backlash back home for using tens of thousands of special interest money to go on vacation, Erik Paulsen is clearly flailing, making mistakes that will cost him in November.”
