This weekend, Esther Joy King proved her campaign is not ready for prime time as she stumbled through a painful interview where she repeatedly refused to answer whether she agreed with the Republican National Committee that the deadly January 6th riot was “legitimate political discourse.”
It’s simple: does King agree that a violent insurrection at the Capitol was legitimate political discourse or does she stand with law enforcement as they continue to investigate and prosecute those who took part? King’s refusal to come clean on her position is yet another reminder she does not deserve Illinoisans’ trust.
“Esther Joy King made clear this weekend she’s nothing more than a dishonest wannabe politician who will twist herself in a pretzel so long as she doesn’t have to be honest about her positions with the very Illinoisans she wants to represent,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Illinoisans deserve to know: does King agree with her party that a lawless, violent insurrection to overturn the election was ‘legitimate political discourse’?”
