| On this day in 1965, Medicaid and Medicare were signed into law, two programs that have helped millions of Coloradans live longer, healthier lives by delivering quality, affordable health care to generations of Coloradans over the last 60 years.
As Coloradans continue to see the fallout of Gabe Evans and Jeff Crank’s vote to cut these two critical programs, today’s anniversary highlights how Evans and Crank’s cruelty has made health care the top domestic issue for Americans this year, according to Gallup.
Driving this anxiety among the public is the incredible damage caused by Evans and Crank’s Big, Ugly Bill. Their law is ripping away health care from Coloradans and raising medical costs on everyone – all to fund massive tax breaks for billionaires and big corporations.
The impacts are real and Coloradans are hurting. Evans and Crank’s cruel and decisive vote to gut Medicaid are wreaking havoc on their lives:
It’s no wonder Evans and Crank have refused to meet voters face-to-face since their vote.
ADDITIONALLY: Evans and Crank’s Big, Ugly Law triggered nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare, resulting in likely cuts to funding for hospitals and doctors and higher premiums for seniors. To “celebrate” the anniversary of Medicare, Evans and Crank were silent as the Trump Administration also ended a prescription drug plan that will spike the cost of medicine for Medicare recipients.

Today’s Medicaid and Medicare anniversaries are reminding voters that Evans and Crank voted to make people’s lives worse. Their attack on Medicaid and Medicare is a defining issue for the midterms and it’s going to cost them in November.”
