On Eve Of Super Tuesday, NRCC Chair Spreads Disinformation About California Elections

So will Emmer Accept The Results of Tuesday’s Primaries?

One day before Californians headed to the polls for Super Tuesday, NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer was busy spreading disinformation about the 2018 elections in California.

In seeking to explain why the Republican Party has failed to elect women to Congress, Emmer told Bloomberg Gov reporters that the 2018 CA-39 election was stolen from candidate Young Kim.

Bloomberg Counts Podcast:

(16:45) In California, you’ve got people like Michelle Steel and Young Kim. Young Kim who won last time. And she will win this time, and will not have it taken from her in the 30 days after the election.

FACT: Young Kim did not win her election in November 2018. Gil Cisneros defeated her by nearly 8,000 votes.

Emmer’s comments come as he refuses to join DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos in pledging not to use hacked material in the 2020 campaign.

Statement From DCCC Spokesperson Robyn Patterson

“Chairman Emmer’s decision to spread disinformation is not only bizarre, it undermines the faith that Americans have in our Democracy.  As Californians head to the polls today, Emmer has an obligation to apologize for these comments. Failing to elect women to Congress is not an excuse for spreading baseless disinformation about California’s elections.”
