House Republicans Have 14 Days To Choose Economic Security Of American Workers, Seniors, Households, and Small Businesses Over Partisan Politics
After voting “NO” to suspend the debt limit last week, a routine measure that would ensure America never defaults on its bills, millions of American workers, seniors, households, and small businesses are at risk of facing financial calamity. Republicans’ recklessness would be solely responsible for driving the U.S. economy off the cliff because extremist politicians like Kevin McCarthy chose politics over governing for the people.
As President Biden and House Democrats lead an historic economic rebound and as millions of Americans begin to see financial daylight after months of weathering a once-a-century pandemic, House Republicans’ dangerous political agenda threatens American livelihoods. If the U.S. were to default:

More than 30 million U.S. families receiving President Biden’s expanded Child Tax Credit could see those monthly payments end;

Social Security payments for 50 million Americans could stop;

U.S. servicemembers and veterans, postal workers and federal employees could see their payments stop;

America’s credit rating could downgrade and the value of workers’ retirement savings could plummet.
House Democrats are fighting to live up to the nation’s responsibilities to pay its bills, just like we did during the last president’s administration. It’s too bad Republicans would rather score temporary political points instead of protecting the American people.
