Ashley Hinson’s party voted to balloon the national debt with tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, and this week she refused to pay the bill, which would threaten the full faith and credit of the United States and send our economy into a tailspin.
But instead of admitting that she put millions of American workers, seniors, and small business owners in harm’s way, Hinson has opted to repeatedly lie to justify her refusal to pay our bills.Even after receiving a false fact check and getting called out by an economist for misleading Iowans, Hinson doubled down on her lies and attacked Iowa’s local media for telling the truth about her deception. She lied again this week and refuses to acknowledge that her vote could have sent the economy into a recession, threatening our economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“After supporting tax breaks for the wealthiest one percent and multinational corporations which exploded our national debt, this week Hinson showed just how fiscally irresponsible she is by refusing to pay the bill,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “But instead of defending her reckless decision to threaten the US economy, Hinson is trying to lie her way out of admitting an ugly truth – that she cannot be trusted by Iowa families and small businesses to look out for their interests.”
