FACT CHECK: Mike Lawler Tries to Gaslight New Yorkers Getting Crushed Under Trump’s Economy

Lawler egregiously claims that, “Grocery prices, too, are coming down” and “housing affordability is finally trending in the right direction” – even going so far as to call Trump’s economy a “victory” for Americans.

In reality, grocery prices are still rising and Americans’ confidence in Republicans’ economy is at a 12-year low.

Lawler has marched in lockstep with his D.C. party bosses to make life less affordable for New Yorkers at every turn – from health care to groceries to utility bills. In the last year alone, Lawler has:

• Failed to extend the Affordable Care Act subsidies, putting over 220,000 New Yorkers at risk of losing their health care and causing premiums to skyrocket 114% on average.
• Passed the single largest cut to Medicaid in history, all to give the top 1% over $1 trillion in tax breaks.
• Slashed SNAP funding and threatened to rip food off the tables of 300,000 New York households.
• Rubber-stamped the Trump administration’s tariffs as the average New York family spends $2,024 more for everyday goods and $433 more on housing.
• Watched as New Yorkers electricity costs jumped 7.6% on average.
• Stood idly by while layoffs hit over 1.1 million and unemployment climbed to its highest level since the pandemic.
