| After voting to rip away health care from tens of thousands of his own constituents, Mike Lawler is now shamelessly bragging about his destructive vote to gut Medicaid and make life more expensive for New Yorkers.
Lawler Lie: “We strengthened the Medicaid program, making sure it’s always there for seniors, children, the disabled, and those who need it most.”
FACT: Lawler’s Big, Ugly Bill cuts Medicaid funding by nearly $1 trillion and would take away health care from 15 million Americans, including over 32,000 of Lawler’s constituents – meaning Lawler made sure Medicaid will NOT be there for those who need it most.
- The Congressional Budget Office found that 600,000 children would lose health care coverage as a result of Lawler’s bill
- Thanks to Lawler, a family on Medicaid could see costs increased by up to $1,650 per year, and a couple on Medicare could see costs increased by up to $8,340 per year
Lawler Lie: “We protected local hospitals that our communities rely on.”
FACT: Lawler’s Big, Ugly Bill is estimated to cause over 1,400 hospital job losses in NY-17 and lead to a loss of over $600 million in local economic activity. Plus, Hudson Valley hospitals are already starting to feel the effects of Lawler’s cuts, laying off employees and eliminating services in anticipation of funding cuts.
- Meanwhile, Lawler has dismissed the concerns of health care officials in his own district, shamelessly saying they have been “parroting […] talking points”
FACT: The DCCC is holding Lawler accountable for his vote with a digital ad running in NY-17 calling him out for making life more expensive by voting for the Big, Ugly Bill: |
