FACT CHECK: “No, Congressman Schweikert, There Isn’t a Cure for Diabetes”

The bad local headlines are back for Rep. David Schweikert. Earlier this week, Schweikert shamefully abandoned Arizonans and voted against a commonsense measure that would cap insulin costs at $35 per month.

Schweikert defended his no vote by claiming “there is already a cure for type 1 diabetes and that Congress should focus on getting that cure to patients instead of [….] passing subsidies to lower the cost of insulin.”

The only problem? There is “currently no approved cure for type 1 or type 2 diabetes,” as reported by 12News.

“The wildly popular legislation David Schweikert voted against can save lives now,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “There’s no valid excuse for voting against lowering the cost of life-saving medication.”
