FACT CHECK: Rob Bresnahan Voted to Gut Funding for Rural Hospitals and Health Clinics

Congressman Rob Bresnahan is lying again – this time about his devastating vote to gut Medicaid and put rural hospitals and health clinics at risk.

A new non-partisan fact check makes it clear that Bresnahan is misleading Northeastern Pennsylvanians when he falsely claims that he secured a win for rural hospitals.

Bresnahan and House Republicans voted to gut Medicaid by roughly $1 trillion, and their law could “lower federal Medicaid spending in rural areas by $137 billion over 10 years.” Those steep cuts are significantly larger than the rural health fund that Bresnahan is now touting.

Now, because of Bresnahan’s vote, rural health clinics are already closing in parts of the country.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin
“Congressman Rob Bresnahan voted for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history, and his vote is already forcing rural health clinics across the country to shut their doors. It’s shameful that Bresnahan wants to try and take a victory lap after he voted to put rural hospitals across Pennsylvania at risk of closure.”
