In her first TV ad of the general election, Lisa Scheller claims that she’ll “hold the corrupt politicians accountable,” but what she doesn’t want Pennsylvanians to know is that her own history is littered with examples of how she’ll fit right in with the corrupt politician-filled Washington swamp.
The facts about Self-Serving Scheller:
- As a member of the Lehigh Valley Board of Commissioners, Lisa Scheller used her position to benefit herself financially at the expense of others. In 2012, Scheller voted in favor of a countywide property reassessment that greatly increased her property value, while also cutting her tax burden. According the Morning Call, Scheller’s house, “in a desirable section of Allentown within the Parkland School District, increased in value from $927,500 to $1.26 million, with a $3,441.85 tax reduction” – the largest decrease among eight of the nine Commissioners who benefited. While Scheller benefited from her vote, 45 percent of property owners in the county saw their taxes increase.
- Scheller has called the Republican tax scam, which was a handout to the wealthy and big corporations at the expense of the middle class, “a big step in the right direction.”
- Scheller’s congressional campaign is being funded by Washington Republicans.
- When she’s not taking money from the swamp, Scheller is trying to buy her seat, loaning her campaign $1.2 million dollars so far this cycle.
“No matter how hard Lisa Scheller tries to hide it, she is exactly the kind of corrupt politician that she promises Pennsylvanians she’ll hold accountable,” said DCCC Spokesperson Courtney Rice. “This ad is nothing more than an attempt to muddy the waters around her own self-serving political history that will fit right in in the Washington swamp.”
