FACT: Like Trump, Jason Lewis Also Has Racist Past

During last night’s debate, Donald Trump was asked his position on how to heal racial differences in this country and echoed his recent offensive remarks that African-American communities are in “the worst shape that they’ve ever been in before.” Let’s not forget that Jason Lewis has made an extensive number of racist comments of his own in recent history – including condoning slavery:

Jason Lewis: “In fact, if you really want to be quite frank about it, how does somebody else owning a slave affect me? It doesn’t.” [Star Tribune, 2/18/16]

Jason Lewis: “Real Americans” think Hurricane Katrina victims were “a bunch of whiners.” [Star Tribune, 2/22/16]

Jason Lewis: “The problem is, [Latinos are] the fastest growing population in the country… The West in general…has been committing political suicide – has been committing cultural suicide. They’re not repopulating.” [Jason Lewis Podcast [0:26], 11/9/12]

Jason Lewis: “The media income for blacks in America would make them rich in most African nations, not most – all.” [Star Tribune, 2/22/16]

Jason Lewis: “The problem in the black community is the gangsta culture. The problem in the black community and in all ethnic communities and in poor white communities is out of wedlock birth rates.” [Jason Lewis Podcast, All Lives Matter & Market Meltdown, 5:13]

Pioneer Press: Lewis “scoffed” at idea of apologizing for slavery, called it “epitome of pandering to an issue without substance.” [Pioneer Press, 6/20/97]
