Pentagon: GOP border plan jeopardizes $150 million meant for Arizona military projects
A new Pentagon report shows that President Trump’s ineffective and expensive border wall plan puts Arizona service members and their families squarely in the crosshairs, stealing up to $150 million from projects at the state’s military bases.
According to KTAR News, “Five projects at four locations in the state are listed for potential cuts in fiscal year 2019: two at Luke Air Force Base and one each at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Camp Navajo and the Yuma Marine Corps Air Station.” Luke Air Force Base alone could lose as much as $40 million.
Despite boasting his alleged support for defense assets like Luke Air Force Base on his own website, Congressman David Schweikert voted in favor of Trump’s emergency declaration – completely disregarding the threat it poses to Arizona’s military bases.
“For thousands of Arizona military families, this fake national emergency is a threat to the resources they need,” said DCCC Spokesperson Brooke Goren. “When it came time to vote his values, Congressman Schweikert made it perfectly clear that he will always put himself and party loyalty ahead of our brave men and women in uniform. Arizonans deserve better.”
