Montana Farmer Union President in April 2020: “You would think that [Rosendale] would want to come and talk to rural and ag issues…It kind of surprises me that he would ignore us.”
Earlier this year, the multi-millionaire from Maryland Matt Rosendale blew off an invitation to talk about the needs of Montana’s ag community at a forum hosted by the Montana Farmers Union. Rosendale cited supposed “scheduling conflicts,” while trying to assure Montanan’s farmers that he has “deep ties to the agricultural community.”
Montana Farmers Union President Walter Schweitzer said at the time that he was disappointed Rosendale wouldn’t be in attendance:
“You would think that he would want to come and talk to rural and ag issues. Agriculture is our number one industry. It kind of surprises me that he would ignore us.”
NOW, Rosendale has done it AGAIN and is the ONLY candidate in Montana not attending the farmers forum… And this time with ZERO explanation.
The Farmers Union EVEN gave the candidates the questions beforehand in order to be prepared to discuss the challenges facing Montana’s farmers, but Rosendale could not be bothered to attend.
Statement from DCCC Spokesperson Andy Orellana:
“Maryland real estate developer and multi-millionaire Matt Rosendale claims supposed ‘deep ties’ with Montana’s farmers and rural communities, huh? Rather than meet with Montanans to discuss vital issues that are central to Montana’s economy, Rosendale remains focused on furthering his own political career and sucking up to his corporate donors in DC.”
