Faker Begich Pretends to Care about Food Stamps

Millions of Americans are at risk of losing SNAP benefits before the end of the month if Nick Begich and Republicans’ government shutdown continues – that includes more than 66,000 Alaskans who will lose food stamps starting next month, all as Western Alaskans are still reeling from a devastating natural disaster.

REMINDER: By rubberstamping the GOP’s Big, Ugly Law, Begich voted to gut food assistance supporting more than 40,000 Alaskan households. Around 1 in 10 of his constituents rely on these benefits each month.

DOUBLE REMINDER: Alaskans are at risk because House Republicans refuse to come back to work to negotiate an extension of Affordable Care Act tax credits, threatening health care for over 25,000 Alaskans, after already voting for the largest cuts to Medicaid and food assistance in history.

But now, ~suddenly~ Begich is rallying against “putting politics above the well-being of Americans in need.” That’s rich coming from a man who consistently puts politics over Alaska.

DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser:
“If Nick Begich really cared about ensuring Alaska families can put food on the table, he wouldn’t have voted to gut food assistance for 40,000 of them. Families are struggling – and Begich hasn’t lifted a finger to help. It’s shameful, and Alaskans deserve better.”
