| Vulnerable House Republicans cast a disastrous — and LOSING — vote to protect Trump’s reckless tariffs on Canadian goods.
Thanks to House Democrats, the House took the first major vote to rein in sweeping tariffs that are raising costs on the American people. As Politico reports, these same vulnerable House Republicans have been handed “an unwanted referendum on affordability” with more votes coming to dramatically roll-back Trump’s cost-spiking tariffs.
Recent studies have found Trump’s reckless tariffs are costing average American households more than a thousand dollars a year. Public polling shows that by a wide margin, the American public hates Trump’s tariffs. So one has to wonder why would Republicans take such a toxic, harmful vote to raise prices on everyday Americans?
It’s because they are scared of political retribution from the President.
During the vote yesterday, Trump threatened on social media: “Any Republican, in the House or the Senate, that votes against TARIFFS will seriously suffer the consequences come Election Day, and that includes Primaries!”
Vulnerable House Republicans, including the so-called Republican moderates who have falsely prided themselves on independence, continue to abide by Trump’s commands and cast the disastrous vote to continue raising costs on everyday families.

“By voting in favor of price hiking tariffs, vulnerable House Republicans chose fealty to Donald Trump and their Deputy Speaker over addressing the affordability crisis haunting their constituents. There are no more ‘moderates’ left in the Republican Party, just corrupt sycophants.”
