In Final Week, Shelli Yoder Poised to Win; WISH TV: Tennessee Trey Hollingsworth “Struggling”

With less than a week to go before Election Day, Democrat Shelli Yoder is in a strong position to win in Indiana’s 9th District race against multi-millionaire Tennessee Trey Hollingsworth, who, as local TV points out, “moved to Indiana last year to run for Congress.”

Winning his primary with only 34% of the vote, Tennessee Trey has never been particularly well liked in Indiana’s 9th District, and his campaign has not been able to overcome his blatant attempts to buy a seat in Congress.

Even piping in outside support by way of Washington, DC, yesterday didn’t help: Speaker Ryan’s rally was sparsely attended, was panned as a sign of a “struggling” campaign, and led to a bizarre moment where Tennessee Trey called Shelli Yoder “evil.”

As the Indianapolis Star pointed out:

“The fact the Republican House Speaker made time in his schedule one week before the election for a stop in Indiana’s 9th District, which typically leans heavily Republican, reflects what pollsters and both parties have acknowledged – that Hollingsworth, a businessman who moved to the district a little over a year ago, is in a tough fight.”

“Hoosiers know that Tennessee Trey Hollingsworth doesn’t share their values,” said Sacha Haworth of the DCCC. “Piping in more outside help to shore up his ‘struggling’ campaign isn’t going to hide Tennessee Trey’s arrogant attempts to buy a seat in Congress while trying to avoid paying Indiana taxes.”
