First DCCC TV Ads in MO-02: Wagner Chooses Special Interest Campaign Donors Over Missourians

First DCCC TV Ads in MO-02 Highlight Congresswoman Ann Wagner’s Record of Putting Her Campaign Donors Ahead of the People She’s Supposed to Represent

Today, the DCCC released two new TV ads – “Two Phones” and “Waiting” – reminding voters that Congresswoman Ann Wagner will always side with the big corporations and special interests that fund her campaign over them. Congresswoman Ann Wagner – who is so successful at being a high-dollar fundraiser that she was “reward[ed]… with [a] plum overseas appointment” as U.S. Ambassador to Luxembourg – has taken more than $1.3 million in campaign donations from the drug and insurance industries over her career. It’s no wonder, then, that Wagner voted against the bipartisan bill to lower the cost of prescription drugs and voted five times to repeal the Affordable Care Act, which protects 320,500 Missourians in the 2nd District with a pre-existing condition.

Two Phones” and “Waiting” will begin airing today, September 1, throughout the district on broadcast in the St. Louis media market.

“Congresswoman Ann Wagner is the epitome of the Washington swamp. She rakes in millions of dollars from corporate special interests, then votes their way in Washington – her constituents be damned. It’s clear where Wagner’s priorities are, and they aren’t with voters in suburban St. Louis,” said DCCC Spokesperson Courtney Rice.

Read the transcripts below.

“Two Phones” Transcript:

In Ann Wagner’s office there are two phones.

One for you….

And one for them

You see, Ann’s campaign has taken over $1.3 million from the drug and insurance industries.

She voted with them to keep the costs of prescription drugs sky high.

And voted to gut protections for pre-existing conditions during this health crisis.

So, she’ll be riiiiiiight with you.

Only once she’s done returning their calls.

“Waiting” Transcript:

During this crisis, we need our elected officials to do something about the cost of our health care.

While we’re waiting for Ann Wagner to answer our calls, she’s busy calling the corporate drug and insurance industries, who’ve given her more than $1.3 million in campaign cash.

And she voted with them to keep prescription prices high and gut health coverage for half a million Missourians.

So when we call Ann Wagner, is it any surprise she chooses them over us?
