Fitzpatrick Calls It Quits

Fitzpatrick votes against uncovering the truth about January’s fatal attack on the Capitol

Today, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick decided to join Kevin McCarthy and the most extreme members of his party in voting against an investigation to find the truth behind how a violent mob overran the U.S. Capitol.

Fitzpatrick had the opportunity to stand up and support a bipartisan investigation into this egregious attack on our democracy. Instead, he made a choice to give into Donald Trump and the extremists in his party, helping to cover up what happened on that deadly day.

Fitzpatrick, who called the events of January 6th a “coup attempt” is now calling it quits on accountability.

Voters in PA-01 deserve a representative who will fight for our country’s democratic values at every turn, not give in to the extremists in his party, which is exactly what Fitzpatrick did today.

On Fitpatrick’s vote, Gladys Sicknick, the mother of Brian Sicknick, a Capitol police officer who died following the attack said, “I just don’t believe anybody could vote no, it doesn’t make sense.”

D.C. Police Officer Michael Fanone said, “I mean, I’m angry. I just don’t believe anybody could vote no, it doesn’t make sense.”

DCCC Spokesperson James Singer

“You either care about democracy or you don’t. Fake moderate Brian Fitzpatrick, in total deference to Donald Trump and Kevin McCarthy, chose partisan politics over the truth — voters in Pennsylvania deserve better.”
