Fitzpatrick Caught Taking Money From Convicted Felon & Jack Abramoff Associate

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick will apparently take campaign cash any way he can get it. Even if it means linking up with a convicted felon connected to corrupt lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

The Daily Beast reported that Fitzpatrick, who as a candidate and member of Congress has repeatedly touted his work in the FBI’s anti-corruption unit, has taken $5,400 in campaign money from Adam Kidan, who previously “pleaded guilty to fraud and conspiracy” for a “2000 incident in which he and Abramoff allegedly devised a fake wire transfer to purchase gambling boats.” Arguably more disturbing is that the previous owner of the casino boats, Gus Boulis, was murdered by men that Kidan had reportedly hired.

The disturbing story doesn’t end there. The article further details that Abramoff and Kidan used their relationship with “people in the offices of Reps. Tom DeLay (R-TX) and Robert Ney (R-OH) to facilitate the deal for Suncruz [the casino boat company].”

“It is frankly alarming that Congressman Fitzpatrick has taken thousands of dollars in campaign cash from Adam Kidan, a convicted felon who has served time for fraud and conspiracy, and who is a former business partner of Jack Abramoff, the most infamous corrupt lobbyist in history,” said DCCC Spokesman Evan Lukaske. “Just as concerning is that, in addition to hiring the men linked to the murder of his former business associate, Kidan used relationships with Members of Congress to grease the corrupt deal that landed him in prison. Silence on this matter is unacceptable—Fitzpatrick needs to immediately explain his troubling connection to Kidan and rid herself of his dirty money.”
