Vulnerable Republican Brian Fitzpatrick joins his party in voting to continue allowing states to enact discriminatory laws that make it harder to vote
Today, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick voted against H.R. 4, the landmark John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore and strengthen anti-discrimination enforcement authorities in the Voting Rights Act of 1965. As states across the country pass Jim Crow-style voter intimidation and suppression laws, Rep. Fitzpatrick voted to continue to allow states to restrict access to the ballot box, especially for voters of color, low income voters, seniors, servicemembers, and voters with disabilities.
Even worse, Fitzpatrick’s vote is a flip-flop from just two years ago, proving he is in lockstep with his party as they launch a “forensic investigation” into Pennsylvania’s 2020 election results.
“Republicans like Rep. Fitzpatrick would rather choose their voters than the other way around,” said DCCC spokesperson Helen Kalla. “Instead of actually passing policies that help hardworking Americans, Rep. Fitzpatrick once again sided with those in his party who are trying to change the rules to keep folks from voting.”
