Secretary Tom Price was just forced to resign after abusing taxpayer funds to take private jets to visit his properties and family, but Georgia voters will remember that Price’s successor, Rep. Karen Handel, is the original jet-setting Georgian. In 2008, when a state budget crisis was forcing cuts to children’s education, healthcare, and food programs, then-Secretary of State Handel used state taxpayer-funded planes to travel around the state. Unlike Price, Handel has never acted to pay back any of the taxpayer funds she used for her trips.
“Representative Karen Handel has been silent about her establishment Republican pal Tom Price abusing taxpayer funds to cover his trips on private jets,” said DCCC Spokesperson Jacob Peters. “Handel may not want to remind Georgians that when they were being asked to tighten their belts, she was using their hard-earned tax dollars flying across the state.”
