Flip-Flop Friday: Vulnerable New York Republicans Edition

Happy flip-flop Friday to vulnerable New York Republicans, and vulnerable New York Republicans only.

This week, extremists Anthony D’Esposito, Marc Molinaro, and Brandon Williams were caught fumbling left and right with a GOP-manufactured government shutdown looming.

In case you missed it:

During an interview, Brandon Williams, a multi-millionaire with a net worth of up to $8.2 million, said that he’s “not independently wealthy” and that furloughed workers shouldn’t expect “a huge amount of sympathy” during a GOP-manufactured shutdown.

The Post-Standard: Rep. Brandon Williams flip flops within hours about taking pay during government shutdown

“Rep. Brandon Williams today asked for his salary to be withheld during a government shutdown, reversing his comments only hours earlier when he told a national television audience that he would continue to accept his $174,000 annual salary. Williams, a first-term Republican from Central New York, made the fast reversal after facing backlash from his Democratic opponents and others on social media…

Later in the show, a caller criticized Williams for saying he would take a salary while federal employees and contractors would suffer. He said those workers won’t find much sympathy from those who work in the private sector and have been furloughed or lost pensions.”

Marc Molinaro, Anthony D’Esposito, and Brandon Williams were slated to attend a swanky private event this weekend with extremist leader Elise Stefanik, coinciding with the MAGA majority’s shutdown. But, after Stefanik’s team confirmed the event was still happening to Punchbowl News, her team backtracked and blamed it on internal miscommunication.

Punchbowl News: Fundraising update

“House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik is holding a fundraiser for New York Republican Reps. Anthony D’Esposito, Marc Molinaro, Brandon Williams and Andrew Garbarino this weekend. The event is at the Otesaga Resort Hotel in Cooperstown, N.Y. And despite the looming shutdown, the fundraiser is still on, we’re told.

‘Vulnerable New York Republicans Marc Molinaro, Anthony D’Esposito, and Brandon Williams are prioritizing padding their campaign coffers over helping New Yorkers during their GOP-inflicted government shutdown,’ DCCC spokesperson Ellie Dougherty said in a statement.”

Last but not least: Brandon Williams and serial-liar George Santos contradicted campaign promises on abortion – once again – and, late last night, voted for an extreme anti-abortion measure in a GOP spending bill.
